The Province of Silesia

Upper Silesia takes up 12,000 sq km of Poland's total area, which ranks it as the 14th largest province. There are as many as 68 towns (including 22 big towns, with metropolitan features such as universities, institutes and scientific centres), arable grounds constitute only 2.6% of all villages in the state.
The number of inhabitants - almost 4.9 million (m) people - makes it the second most populated province in Poland, which as far as the area is concerned means that the region has the highest number of inhabitants per square kilometre - over 398 people ( the national average population is 123).
The economy of the province is created by more than 323,000 companies employing over 3 m people in total. The region attracts 13.02 percent of all economic enterprises in Poland and 21.25 percent of all employees. It means that every one in fifth Pole works in Silesia. Silesians are famous for their traditional hard-working culture, which guarantees reliable, credible and highly qualified workers.
The Silesia Region is one of the most industrialised parts of Poland supporting the development of co-operation within it.

The Province of Katowice investment attractiveness is emphasised by the ranking of provinces carried out by various research agencies. These rankings, evaluating local market absorption, the structure of the labour market, social attitude towards investments, economic transformation efficiency, technical infrastructure and the base for surrounding business.
The region of Katowice is undoubtedly number one as far as communication networks infrastructure, communication accessibility or industrial background are concerned.

Foreign investors active in the Polish market recognise it as stabile, developing and attractive. It is estimated that for the last seven years foreign companies have invested not less than US $ 14 bln.
The evidence produced by the research agencies points out that foreign investors active in our market reinvest 80 percent of their profit, which stresses their willingness to conduct business here on a long-term basis.
Over 370 bank outlets operate in this province. As well as the Polish ones, there are foreign banks based, e.g. Raiffeisen Centrobank, Citybank, Deutsche Bank, BNP-Dresdner Bank, Bank Austria Creditanstalt, Credit Lyonnais and Societe General.
