The district of Goczałkowice-Zdrój is situated in the valley of the upper Vistula river. Its terrain contains many fish ponds and the retention reservoir, Goczałkowickie Lake, which supplies the Upper Silesian Industrial Region with drinking water and serves for flood control. Good connections with the major industrial and recreation centres are provided by the district's location on both railway and highway (the A1) routes linking Katowice, Bielsko-Biała, Wisła Uzdrowisko, and Cieszyn. A modern telephone exchange provides worldwide connections.

The district of Goczałkowice-Zdrój is inhabited by 5,800 persons and occupies an area of 48.64 square kilometres, two-thirds of which is water surface.

The Provincial Rheumatological Rehabilitation Centre has its seat here, and during the course of a year it treats around 8,000 infirmary patients and around 3,500 outpatients. The health resort has a 135 year long tradition. Its specialised medical staff treat rheumatic conditions, post-trauma motor conditions, gynecological diseases, and some nervous disorders and disfunctions of the nervous system.

The remainder of the district is agricultural; horticulture is the main speciality. About 350 businesses in various fields are registered in the district.

Proposals for investors:

  • 10.5 hectares by the A1 highway to Katowice and Bielsko-Biała, allocated in the changes to the space management plan for industry and crafts that are not harmful to the environment.
  • A total of 16.7 hectares located in various places in the district, for agricultural processing and other industries that are not harmful to the environment.

The Provincial Rheumatological Rehabilition Centre (WORR) is seeking a partner for the construction of a hospital for the treating of rheumatic diseases and conditions of the nervous system by conservative and surgical methods. WORR is also offering a long term lease of the MACIEK MAŁY recreational lake (10.5 hectares) and its surrounding areas for recreational development and small catering outlets.
