Investors

The Katowice Special Economic Zone (KSEZ) is a leader among Special Economic Zones in Poland. Already many of the planned enterprises have invested much more than they originally intended to do. The biggest investment has been made within the automotive industry. General Motors has been investing in total DM 600 m in a car manufacturing plant in Gliwice up to the end of 1998 and by 2000 the investment will reach almost DM 1 bln. The concern will create c. 3,000 jobs. GM manufacturing is linked with other investments within the Zone: Isuzu Motors from Japan have agreed to invest over PLN 586 m for new generation high-pressure engines. Delphi Automotive System, a producer of components for automotive industry have been spending over PLN 110 m and Lear Corporation are ready to spend PLN 10 m for car seats production.
The value of investment made by V.A.B. Tychy in a plant producing car body components has already surpassed the intended PLN 21.2 m. In the Tychy Sub-zone Agora-Poligrafia have built a new printing house costing over PLN 20 m. Tras have surpassed their originally intended investment by PLN 25.8 m for window profiles production. The leading Polish producer of cement, Atlas have started their investment with over PLN 18 m.
Until the end of 1998, 37 firms had been selected by means of tender. They have already started or are in the course of preparatory work connected with their activity within the Zone. These companies will invest PLN 2.5 bln and create over 10,900 new jobs.

The Katowice Special Economic Zone Co. in Katowice, as an administrator of the economic Zone, offers additional services to assist companies based within the Zone and its vicinity. They include:

  • project-related services;
  • services in the area of the customer's activity;
  • other services, such as active mediation in property dealings in the Zone's vicinity, consulting services and training in problems related to operating in special economic zones;
  • these services are provided by Bank Informacji (Data Bank) operating within the Katowice SEZ Co. in Katowice.
