Bielsko - Biala in our eyes!

Welcome to Bielsko-Biala, a city of businessmen, artists and tourists, a city of dynamic industry and trade , delightful architecture, numerous cultural and recreation faciities, and of great entertainment.

You will never forget the walks you take through the streets of Bielsko-Biala.The lovely, Neo-Classical and Secessional buildings which can be compared to the Vienna and Budapest architecture, remind of a rich and complicated past of that piece of Polish-Czech- Austrian borderline.

People of different nationalities and religions lived there; the Polish, German, Jewish and Austrian, confessors of Catholicism, Evangelism and Judaism, and the word "tolerance" was never forgotten here. Among numerous monuments, symbols of cultural and religious variety, the most outstanding ones are the catholic cathedral with its Neo-Renaissance spire, the only monument of Martin Luther that was erected in Poland, a hundred years old theater built by the people who used the German language, and a monumental grammar-school funded by the Polish inhabitants of the city

Traces of the seven centuries of history of Bielsko-Biala can be found in the Castle Museum ,in many churches, in the villas once built for factory owners and today serving as offices or educational centers - and finally - in a wooden Weaver's House , reminding of how the powerful textile industry developed in this city.

BIELSKO-BIALA is a miniature of modern Poland : it is developing fast, preserving its tradition and historical heritage.

BIELSKO-BIALA is a city where normally unavailable recreational attractions are within one`s reach.

There are theaters , cinemas, massage parlors, fittness clubs, indoor and outdoor swimming pools and tennis courts right in the center of the city. In the suburbs - horse stables. At the airport - light airplanes inviting to take a look at this fascinating city from the air.

The city is full of verdure. The joggers can run in parks, squares, and bulvards. It takes from ten to twenty minutes to get to the mountains - to the Przegibek Pass and towards the slopes of Debowiec and Szyndzielnia to the scenic park of Wapienica Valley - an oasis of calmness.

The ultra-modern Polish cable railway takes the tourists up to Szyndzielnia in less than six minutes (954 m above sea level). Hiking is also recommended and it takes an hour. There are some easy and very scenic tourist trails starting from Szyndzielnia. A picturesque and very crooked road leads from Przegibek to the lakes Zywieckie and Miedzybrodzkie, a favorite place of sailors and windsurfers. The local mountains became especially liked by the paragliders and hang gliders. In winter you do not need to leave the city to ski, sled, skate or go snowboarding. There are ice skating rings available in the center of the city, whereas the slopes of Debowiec, Szyndzielnia and Klimczok become a real skiing paradise, where the snow stays the longest in that part of Beskidy.
