Sightseeing attractions

Historic monuments and souvenirs are the biggest attraction of the region. The most precious is a Baroque monastery in Woźniki, recently restored to its ancient glory. Four old churches, among which is the Parish Church - one of the most important Renaissance edifices in Wielkopolska, can be seen in Grodzisk. The Gothic interesting in Wilkowo is also ranked highly. The region has some interesting wooden churches, for example in Granowo, Grodzisk, Jabłonna, Łęki Wielkie, Parzęczewo, Prochy, Ruchocice, Wielichowo and Zielęcin. The remarkable polichromy in the church in Kamieniec is also worth attention.
In many towns and villages old palaces and manor houses have been preserved. Some of them date back to the 18
th century (e.g. in Granowo, Prochy and Ujazd) and some come from the 19th century (e.g. in Cykowo, Gnin, Granówko, Grodzisk, Lasówki, Wielichowo, Wilkowo Polskie and Wioska). The most interesting bearing unusual eclectic features, have been preserved in Karczewo, Kotowo and Parzęczewo. Some remarkable constructions can also be found among groups of old farm buildings (e.g. in Karczewo, Kotowo or Ptaszkowo). Well-known is a Baroque inn in Ptaszkowo. The last wooden windmill in the region stands near Granówko.

In each of the tree towns (and in Rostarzewo, which used to be a town) features of old small town architecture have been kept. Some old houses in Grodzisk and Rakoniewice dating from the 18th century are worth attention, especially four small houses complete with arcades on the town square in Rakoniewice. A stylish town hall in Rostarzewo is also interesting while a small timbered well from the 19th century has become a symbol of Grodzisk.

There are also some fortified sites coming from ancient times. The most famous are four earthworks of prehistoric forts, situated between Konojad and Łęki Małe. The remains of a medieval knight's house in Kamieniec are also impressive. Several of the former fortified sites, located on the River Obra valley swamps between Łęki Wielkie and Kotusz, near Ziemin and south of Prochy, are not easily accessible. Souvenirs associated with Michał Drzymała: a stone in Zdrój, near his birthplace, and a boulder in Drzymałowo, situated on the site where events concerning his famous gipsy caravan took place, come from the begining of the 20th century. The region houses two local museums. The Wielkopolskie Museum of Firefighting, unique of this kind in the region, established 25 years ago, is now a branch of the central museum in Mysłowice. The Grodzisk Regional Museum, opened in 1967, is now provided for by the local council.

The regional manorial parks are also worth visiting. The parks in Kotowo, Lasówki, Rakoniewice, Wielichowo and Wioska are well kept. The park in Ujazd stands out because of its size (the third largest park in Wielkopolska). In those parks, some impressive trees can be found. The most interesting are the old oak trees in Kamieniec, several trees in Ruchocice and Ujaz, and some rare exotic trees: a swamp cypress in Kotowo and Japanese Goldfruit tree in Parzęczewo. The thickets tree - an oak of 660 cm in circumference - grows outside the parks' area, near a farm-house in Czarna Wieś, 4 km west of Grodzisk.
