Leslie PietrzykLeslie Pietrzyk's first novel, Pears on a Willow Tree, was published in 1998 by Bard/Avon Books and has recently been issued in paperback. It has been called a beautiful novel of four generations of Polish-American women in Detroit. Her short stories have appeared in a number of literary journals, including TriQuarterly, The Iowa Review, Gettysburg Review, and New England Review; several have won awards. She grew up in Iowa, has a B.A. in English/Creative Writing from Northwestern University, and an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from American University. Until March 1999, she was the Director of Communications at the Arlington Chamber of Commerce. She has lived in the Washington, D.C. metro area for ten years.
